It's Still Cricket Time in New Hampshire (VIDEO)

Tuesday 10/06/2020

Just as our mother turkeys are hatching out their polts in late May and early June so too are the juvenile crickets hatching from the eggs their mother deposited into the soil last summer and fall. Lots and lots of food all summer long for our turkeys and other wildlife are these crickets and grasshoppers. But that will change very suddenly when we have a hard frost night that literally kills off all the adult crickets. It is then that the strongest young turkeys figure out what else there is to eat in order to survive. Not all will survive.
